The Sticks Storybook about a visit to the Doctor's office, helps to prepare your child for a visit to the doctor and reinforces the expectations of a check-up.

While Playing: 
  • This activity is a Lap-Time Activity.
  • Sit with your child on your lap and have your child click the mouse to go to the next page.

Reading the story of Sticks' visit to the doctor's office is a great way to help your child feel comfortable during a check-up.

Use reading strategies that are appropriate for beginning readers in order to make sense of a variety of written materials.

 

At-Home Activities: 
  • Go to the library and find other stories about going to the doctor's office. Ask your child what parts of the story were similar to the Sticks story and which parts were different.
  • Make up your own story together about a trip to the doctor's office. Have your child draw the pictures while you help him/her write the story.
  • Act out the story of Sticks' visit to the doctor's office with your child using a pretend doctor's kit. This will help reinforce the learning that has taken place through reading the story.
