While Playing:
  • Sit with your child on your lap while playing.
  • Take turns looking for the hidden items.
  • Talk to your child about what you are looking at while you're playing, labeling the items in the picture. This will help increase your child's vocabulary. For example, you can say, "Maybe the lantern is hiding behind the telephone>"
Ontario Curriculum Connections:

Playing the This and That Snap It! game helps your child meet many learning goals, one of which is the following:

The Kindergarten Program

Conduct simple investigations through free exploration, focused exploration, and guided activity, using inquiry skills (questioning, planning, predicting, observing, communicating)

At-Home Activities:

There are lots of great, fun activities that you can do with your child to help increase their observation skills!

  • Play I Spy! You can play this game anywhere and everywhere! I spy with my little eye something that is purple!
  • Look through a used magazine or newspaper that has lots of pictures. Cut out a picture, and write a list of items that another person has to find within that picture.
  • Make a scavenger hunt! Hide items around a room. Make a map of the room, and put "X's" where the items are hiding. Hand the map over to someone else at your home, and have them find the items using the map. Take turns!
